Rules for international travel
Passengers must observe administrative, passport (including visa formalities), customs and other rules established for international train travel with regard to passengers, their hand luggage, baggage and carried goods. The carrier is not entitled to monitor compliance with these rules, except for rules established by international agreements regarding railway transport, and shall not be liable for any failure by passengers to comply with these rules.
Before booking any international journey, please check the procedure for crossing state borders (including transit countries) by contacting the appropriate competent authorities or consular departments of the relevant embassies. If the passenger does not have documents allowing him/her to cross the border, the passenger will not be allowed to enter neighboring states and may be removed from the train.
Travel with children
When traveling with children up to 18 years old on international trains or on trains within Russia that transit CIS countries, the passenger must have all documents necessary for crossing the state border, including a notarized copy of parental consent (or consent by tutors/guardians) to cross the border of the Russian Federation.
When crossing a state border, a minor citizen of the Russian Federation traveling with at least one of his/her parents may leave the Russian Federation on his/her own foreign travel passport or based on a record in his/her parent's foreign travel passport; in this case, a photograph is mandatory for children 7 years old and above.
If a minor citizen of the Russian Federation leaves the territory of the Russian Federation unaccompanied by parents, adoptive parents, tutors or guardians, in addition to a passport (or other document stipulated by international agreement), he/she must carry notarized consent from his/her parents, tutors or guardians to the departure of the minor citizen of the Russian Federation, stating the period of departure and the states that he/she intends to visit.
